About Us

Pure Pleasure Aromatherapy was launched as an official business in 2025, but the practice started in the mid 1980s when I entered cosmetology. I absolutely loved everything about the field. I spent the first few years focused on hair but eventually gravitated toward skin care and massage therapy using essential oils. This sparked my interest in becoming a cosmetology teacher and learning my trade at a much deeper level. This new path sparked an interest in the effects of essential oils and aromatherapy on both physical and mental health I quickly learned the positive therapeutic effects of these natural plant extracts. At the same time, I started having health issues due to the chemicals I was exposed to in the salon sadly causing me to reconsider my career choice.
Because of this, I went back to school once again. I wasn't sure at the time what I wanted to do, but I knew I loved math and science so focused on those subjects (minoring in math and science with a focus in chemistry) until I finally made the decision to become a classroom teacher. I taught public school for the next 27 years. During this time, I continued learning about the benefits of essential oils and aromatherapy.
At the same time, I began learning to make soaps. lotions, and candles using natural oils and essential oils. I loved torturing my husband (Ray) by smearing my oils, butters, and lotions on him just to see him squirm and say, "Ewe, yuck!" When I retired from teaching in 2023, I started experimenting even more with these natural ingredients. Having more time on my hands, I noticed how much over-the-counter medication my husband was using for his allergies and sinuses.
Because of this, I made a shower steamer that included essential oils that would help clear his head (peppermint, eucalyptus, and a few others). I stuck it in the shower without telling him. Of course he smelled it right away but to his surprise he loved the smell- an added bonus he could breathe through his nose again. I finally had him hooked (at least on that). After that, I made him bath salts using the same essential oil mix and put them in a small lidded container that he carried in his shirt pocket. Anytime he got stuffy, he pulled it out and took a deep breath. He loved it so much, he started giving away his containers to friends. And with that a business was born.
Many of the products, I make today were due to family or a friend's need. The sinus bath salts eventually became our Sinus Rescue Inhaler. Our best selling mixture is the Anxiety Relief which was created for a family member with severe anxiety. This now comes in many products: soaps, room spray, diffuser oil, and a nasal inhaler. During the last couple of years, I have continued to learn about the benefits of essential oils and have turned my soap making hobby into an obsession. What role does Ray play in the family business? He no longer says, "Ewe!" to any product. He is absolutely a passionate believer and tells anyone who will listen how much these products have changed his life. Though he still works full time, you will find him working vendor events by my side every Saturday. Give our products a try. I know you will love them as much as we do!
